October means pumpkins, spice, and everything nice! It also means October wine month in Texas! Not only is the hill country scenery amazing, the wine is too. This past weekend a girlfriend and I took a trip to Fredericksburg to soak in all that the Texas Wine Trail had to offer. Becker, Armadillo, Messina Hof, oh my! With over 51 participating wineries on the trail you are bound to find one you like. We were able to enjoy tastings at 4 wineries a day and with 14 in Fredricksburg alone it was the easy choice for our girls weekend.
We were able to catch a shuttle with 290 Wine Shuttles and get safely from one winery to another getting our Wine Trail passport stamped along the way. I would highly recommend their service if you are planning a trip to the wine country. They are timely and can even store your purchases for pick-up when you get done with your day of fun.
Here is our list of favorites:
- Armadillos Leap
- Becker Vineyards
- Torre Di Pietra
- Messina Hof
All in all it was a great weekend for wine, but we also had a blast checking out all of the cute shops in Fredericksburg. We were also lucky enough to have come on just the right weekend to catch Fredericksburg Trade Days. Held the third weekend of each month, the flea market was full of Fiesta Ware, Antiques, and new items as well! Be sure to come hungry and check out Fredericksburg Mini-Donut Company for their yummy mini-donuts – it’s the perfect way to start a day of shopping and wine!
